This flexible route to a Master degree is ideal if you need to fit your studies around your work commitments, and the exemptions available also mean you could study a course that is purely assignment based with no examinations.

Exemption: 80 out of the 180 credits of a full Master degree

After exemption, students only have to complete the remaining 100 credits (3 subjects only) to achieve for the Master degree.

This programme is designed to allow experienced supply chain professionals (as evidenced by MCIPS status) to top-up their existing qualifications and experience to a Masters Degree by completing three subjects.

The focus of this course is the development of advanced analytical and communication skills that allow graduates to critically engage with theory at the leading edge and apply it to their practice.  Whether you choose to study the course on campus or online, the modes are designed to fit around your existing work commitments.  As this is a fast-track course, it can be completed in 1 to 2 years.

Career prospects: Graduates from the MSc Strategic Procurement Management are able to demonstrate as managers, specialist knowledge to help them co-ordinate and adapt their purchasing and supply chain activities, responding to the dynamic needs of the 21st Century business environment.

Graduates also pioneer purchasing and supply chain management in this growing field, transferring their specialist knowledge in a sustainable and rewarding career. Many of our graduates have become senior managers in public, private, and not-for-profit sectors.

Recognised institutes: Recognising the value of full membership of industry-recognised professional institutes, USW accept qualifying professionals, who meet exemption criteria, onto the fast-track Master route.

Eligibility: The fast-track route is available to experienced professionals who are full member of one of the recognised relevant professional institutes, and are seeking to top the qualification up to a Master degree.

Programme structure: Students eligible for this fast-track route will only be required to complete the following 3 subjects in order to gain the full MSc qualification, in 1 to 2 years.

  • Flexibility: Access to learning materials and study at your own pace anytime and anywhere. No travelling.  Everything is done online.
  • Experienced Mentor: 1 to 1 Dissertation mentors have vast experience of delivering both traditional campus and online.
  • Online virtual learning: Tutors will be in contact with students throughout the course via online virtual learning platform.
  • Responding to your questions: There is scheduled online meetings with tutor as you progress through your course
  • Feedback on coursework: The virtual learning environment will also be used to mark assignments and provide feedback on coursework.

  • Additional Resources: You will have access to a number of resources to complement your studies via virtual learning platform, such as online libraries, which will enable you to access on-line journals, databases and e-books.
Assessment

Assessment:

100% by coursework.  No examination.

An assignment-based assessment approach is adopted, instead of exams.

All of your work is uploaded via the online learning platform where your tutor has direct access to assess it.

  • Full member of recognized relevant professional institutes; and

Work experience requirement:

  • 5 years recognized managerial experience; and

Academic requirement :

  • A recognized UK Honours degree or equivalent; and

English language proficiency requirement:

  • IELTS 6.5 or equivalent, with no band less than 6.0
